| Life's tough, and art has little value?
It is not as harsh to live in Malaysia nowadays, a highly modernized Third World nation. Still material pursuit remains our foremost concern, comparing to the meager state of our cultural cultivation. Responding to such conditions, RAP (Rumah Air Panas) as an artists-run-space strives to feature amongst others, upcoming young artists as well as organizing related art event and project. In November RAP will bring you a joint show with open studio featuring two young art practitioners, Ng Swee Keat and Chao Harn Kae. Working with the theme of 'the heartwarming family', Ng Swee Keat is showcasing recent paintings depicting the grainy bits of daily life of a family. These will be testimonial of the affection and passion Ng has towards life. The imageries are treated realistically bringing the audience closer to the intimacy in the painting. Meanwhile Chao Harn Kae presents his creative endeavor with varieties of media, featuring artwork in oil painting, drawings, ceramics, and clay sculpture. Chao's theme remains faithful to exploring his inner sentiments and moods. The works speak an uncanny whisper and often filled with sense of loneliness, insecure and loss. During the exhibiting period, both artists will also have their open studio sessions in RAP, welcoming art lovers to have more comprehensive exchange with them.
